Join us and help kick off Philly Loves Bowie week 2018 at the ultimate Bowie clubhouse, Doobies! Owner Patti Brett worked with Round Guys to make this creation a reality and we all can’t wait for you to give it a taste!

⚡️Bowie Art Show

Regional artists inspired by David Bowie, will once again showcase their creations in this special one-week only installation at Ruckus Gallery in Old City. Join us as we raise a glass to celebrate the Starman – once again our friend DJ Gareth Bird (from Manchester, England) will spin wall-to-wall Bowie while we take advantage of a Bowie-inspired brunch menu, complete with special Stardust cocktails.

A perfect late-day break to raise a glass of Loving The Alien, a BlackStar Saison (6.3%) created by Round Guys Brewing Company and Pub and sample the menu at CINDER who focus on intriguing beers, ciders, wild ales along with wood-fired pizza creations. A special Bowie playlist will fill the room during the two hours.

Bowie Birthday⚡️It’s Bowie’s Birthday!

To help celebrate the anniversary of David’s birth, we’re going to reach out to select bakeries/cafes/dessert shops and encourage them to participate in our birthday celebration and also help raise funds for the Cancer Center at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in David’s name and memory. We’ll be listing and promoting the participating shops – all you have to do is get your sweet fix from them on January 8 and it’ll support the BOWIE/CHOP fund! #HappyBirthdayBowie

⚡️A Bowie Memorial

Gather Bowie fans as we salute the man who meant so much to so many. Weather permitting, we’ll be creating a huge temporary chalk memorial outside of Doobies – we’ll have plenty of chalk, all you need to do is bring your creativity. Chalking begins at 2pm and goes ’til last call. Additionally, there will be Bowie arts and craft projects inside as well as Bowie music and video throughout the night.

⚡️Fascination: Inside Sigma Sound

This creative FREE happy hour event in the Upstairs Cafe hopes to showcase just how powerful a poet David Bowie was – local folk will share essays inspired by The Starman as well we’ll be discussing Bowie’s time in Philadelphia at Sigma Sound Studios – when he created Young Americans. This event will be immediately followed by the world premiere rough-cut screening of The Sigma Kids, a new documentary from local filmmaker Anthony Crupi.

⚡️Baby Can Dance: A Bowie Cabaret Tribute

From burlesque to buskers – a night of live local performances to celebrate our Starman. Produced by Lady Baphomae and happening in the heart of the Gayborhood at Franky Bradley’s. Complete details TBA

Sex Dwarf is Philly’s long-running Rock of the 80s dance party, now in its 15th year and hosted by DJ Robert Drake. Put on your red shoes and dance the blues! Join us for the 2nd annual dance party designed to truly showcase The Man and his Music!   $5 (21+)

Blue Cross RiverRink is now in its 24th year as an outdoor ice skating rink and fifth season as Winterfest. Join them for All Bowie All Day! From 1-4pm, family friendly activities including ice skating  to Bowie music, Labyrinth will play on the screens inside
The Lodge and there will be Stardust face painting! Starting 5pm the adults have their fun with more Bowie music, concert footage inside The Lodge, themed drink specials too! If you’ve never been to Winterfest – this is a perfect time to check it out!

⚡️Scary Monsters & Super Queens

David Bowie embraced androgyny and what better way to celebrate than with four amazing drag performers! Join Sutton Fierce, Lili St. Queer, Onyx Ondyx and Ron Binary for some genderfluid fun at Philly’s most-unique private club, The Ruba Club – right behind Silk City Diner! The evening will be hosted by Mimi Imfurst and DJ Robert Drake  Proceeds will benefit the Cancer Center at CHOP in Bowie’s memory.


⚡️A Night of Stardust
@ Union Transfer, 1026 Spring Garden Street
6:30pm doors – 7:30pm show / $20 general $30 VIP  (advance)

After last year’s sold out night at World Cafe Live – we once again close out #PhillyLovesBowie week with A Night of Stardust – capping off a week of love and celebration for David Bowie! Last year we sold out World Cafe Live (600+) so this year we’ve moved to Union Transfer where we can double the space for attendance! Net proceeds from the concert will benefit the Cancer Center at CHOP.

Just like last year, the cast for A Night of Stardust is amazing, featuring local vocal performances by some of your favorites – and music and vocal direction by Dan Kauffman and Lance Davis.

Main Light is sponsoring the event with amazing light show fit for a true Bowie experience. Gregory Shelton and Gable Music Ventures are extremely excited to bring this event to Philadelphia. Doors open at 6:30pm – show begins at 7:30pm – be sure to arrive early as we will be hosting a silent auction in the Union Transfer lobby  and get a Bowie Bolt painted on your face, body – wherever! 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction and face painting will also go to the BOWIE/CHOP fund!

⚡️Serious Moonlight – The After Party
