Weather permitting, we’ll be creating a huge temporary chalk memorial outside of Doobies – we’ll have plenty of chalk, all you need to do is bring your creativity. Chalking begins at 2pm and goes ’til last call. Additionally, there will be Bowie arts and craft projects inside as well as Bowie music and video throughout the night.

⚡️Fascination: Inside Sigma Sound

This creative FREE happy hour event in the Upstairs Cafe hopes to showcase just how powerful David Bowie was as local fans will share their heartfelt published stories – yep, published in the new book My Bowie Story, in which sixty storytellers look back on more than four decades of memories featuring David Bowie. Filled with stories and photographs, the fans describe how Bowie’s music, personas, and creativity changed their lives. The eighty five stories also offer a glimpse of Bowie’s kindness as he interacted with his admirers while relating the impact his message had on the sexuality, education, and the lifelong achievements of multiple generations. Additionally, we’ll be chatting about Bowie’s time in Philadelphia at Sigma Sound Studios – when he created Young Americans.
Copies of My Bowie Story will be on sale – with 100% of the proceeds going to the BOWIE/CHOP fund.
This event will be immediately followed by the world premiere rough-cut screening of The Sigma Kids, a new documentary from local filmmaker Anthony Crupi.
⚡️The World Premiere of SIGMA KIDS

Inspired in part by the inaugural edition of Philly Loves Bowie Week, local filmmaker Anthony Crupi has been feverishly working to produce Sigma Kids– a documentary exploring the story of David Bowie’s time in Philadelphia recording his timeless album “Young Americans” which sealed both his own unique bond with the city and the lifelong friendships between his biggest fans – The Sigma Kids.
While the documentary is not fully complete, Anthony has agreed to screen an exclusive rough cut for us in the Upstairs Cafe at World Cafe Live, complete with a Bowie-inspired menu – and following our Fascination: Inside Sigma Sound happy hour.

After last year’s sold out night at World Cafe Live – we once again close out #PhillyLovesBowie week with A Night of Stardust – capping off a week of love and celebration for David Bowie! Last year we sold out World Cafe Live (600+) so this year we’ve moved to Union Transfer where we can double the space for attendance! Net proceeds from the concert will benefit the Cancer Center at CHOP.
Just like last year, the cast for A Night of Stardust is amazing, featuring local vocal performances by some of your favorites – and music and vocal direction by Dan Kauffman and Lance Davis.
Main Light is sponsoring the event with amazing light show fit for a true Bowie experience. Gregory Shelton and Gable Music Ventures are extremely excited to bring this event to Philadelphia. Doors open at 6:30pm – show begins at 7:30pm – be sure to arrive early as we will be hosting a silent auction in the Union Transfer lobby and get a Bowie Bolt painted on your face, body – wherever! 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction and face painting will also go to the BOWIE/CHOP fund!
