Inspired by the spirit of the Starman, Round Guys Brewing Company and Pub have created Loving The Alien, a BlackStar Saison (6.3%) – which will have its exclusive pour to kick off Philly Loves Bowie week at the ultimate Bowie clubhouse, Doobies! Owner Patti Brett worked with Round Guys to make this creation a reality and we all can’t wait to give it a taste! Beginning January 7, Loving The Alien, a BlackStar Saison will be available at selected spots through the month. Complete list of locations will be published shortly.

Bowie Art Show

Regional artists inspired by David Bowie, will showcase their creations in this special one-week only installation at Ruckus Gallery in Old City.


Bowie Birthday Bash with Candy Volcano

Sunday Bowie Happy Hour

A perfect late-day break to raise a glass of Loving The Alien, a BlackStar Saison (6.3%) created by Round Guys Brewing Company and Pub and sample the menu at one of Philly’s newest bar/restaurants –  CINDER – which focuses on intriguing beers, ciders, wild ales along with wood-fired pizza creations from chef Jonathan Petruce. A special Bowie playlist will fill the room during the two hours.

Words On A Wing: A Bowie spoken word event

This creative FREE event hopes to showcase just how powerful a poet David Bowie was – local poets and spoken word folk will share essays inspired by The Starman as well as read excerpts from the pen of David – to be held in the Grand Hall of the Free Library of Philadelphia Main Branch.

Night Skies 
@ The Franklin Institute, 222 North 20th Street

The Franklin Institute kicks off another year of stargazing with a tribute to the man who fell to Earth. Hosted by Franklin Institute Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts, this evening will feature a lecture on the Space Oddities that are Exoplanets and how we find planets outside our own solar system, as well as shows in the Fels Planetarium and activities that will explore Bowie’s place among the stars. View celestial objects in the night sky, including stars, planets, and nebulae in our observatory as well as from our rooftop observation deck offering continuous telescopic observing all evening (weather permitting). Guest will also get to make a commemorative Night Skies Bowie Pin to remember the night.  (All ages)

The Martha Graham Cracker Cabaret

Martha Graham Cracker, the city’s tallest and hairiest drag queen, not-surprisingly counts David Bowie as one of her biggest influences and will perform a few Bowie songs within her monthly show at L’Etage.  tickets/info  (21+)

Labyrinth After Hours

The band that David Bowie chose to back him on Blackstar takes the stage thanks to The Arden Club. A Night of Stardust

After a sold out night at World Cafe Live at the Queen in Wilmington May 2016, A Night of Stardust is back to cap off a week of love and celebration for David Bowie! The cast is amazing, featuring vocal performances by Johnny Showcase, Ginger Coyle, Richard Bush, Lance Davis, Deanna Roisin, Hotsy Totsy and music direction by Dan Kauffman.

Beforehand, stop by the Upstairs Cafe (starting 5:30pm) for dinner and drinks as we screen some vintage Bowie concert footage .. consider it the ULTIMATE pre-game for A Night of Stardust!

Main Light is sponsoring the event with amazing light show fit for a true Bowie experience. Gregory Shelton and Gable Music Ventures are extremely excited to bring this event to Philadelphia.
